Since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast a few weeks ago, many
of us have been swept with a range of emotions: grief, outrage,
despair, and sometimes, hope. Youth around the country have been
particularly affected by these conditions: Within the region,
displacement and loss abound, outside, many watch and worry.
To foster youth voices on Katrina, Generation PRX will provide
production support for requests between $500 and $1500 for
youth-produced pieces that respond to Hurricane Katrina. These pieces
may include interviews with youth survivors, poems, sounds,
reflections, hopes for the future or anything that creatively expresses
how this moment in time effects youth.
To learn more about Youth Voices on Hurricane Katrina, please send an
email to Generation PRX Coordinator Jones Franzel at jones at prx.org or
check http://generation.prx.org for upcoming details. Right now
especially, youth voices must be amplified.
Please be in touch.
