Hi Kat,
The general rule we use is, as long as the young interviewee is part
of an anonymous vox pop (or even if we're broadcasting their first
name but not their last), we don't need a release. For a more
extended interview, it would technically be advisable to have a
release -- but having the interviewee state on tape that they're
willing to be recorded for broadcast is good too.
This is a tricky area for outLoud Radio especially, since obtaining a
release from the parents of closeted youth isn't usually possible.
I'd love to hear what other groups do.
