Happy Spring, Youth Radio Leaders!
Ever wonder how your youth radio group can use Generation PRX? We know
your time is precious, so here's a handy list of the Top 5 Ways to Take
Advantage of GPRX, created especially for you:
1. Ask youth producers who have pieces reviewed on PRX to share out
the reviews during a group meeting. Was the review helpful,
interesting, inspire any changes?
2. Create a playlist on a topic for discussion. Better yet, ask youth
producers to present a sample playlist to get discussion going. How
have other youth producers approached school, sex, home, relationships,
immigration... (For inspiration, see this excellent article from Youth
Noise Network on their curated youth radio event:
http://www.prx.org/articles/915)
3. Use the YouthCast blog. Thanks to Kiera Feldman's terrific work on
YouthCast, you can now listen to youth-produced pieces AND ask the
producer about the piece via the blog. As a group, visit
http://youthcast.org, listen to the piece, come up with a list of
questions, post to the blog, and see what answers come back.
4. Pass it on - share out http://myspace.com/youthcast to encourage
young producers to make their own connections.
5. Choose a piece and review it as a group, or individually. Use the
peer feedback guidelines in the teach section of the site
(http://generation.prx.org/tools.php#teach) or make up your own.
Is there a new great way that Generation PRX helps you? Let us know.
Something else you wish for? We'll do our best to grant it!
Sending best all 'round,
Jones
