3rd ROCK REALITY
HELP US REPORT ON THE IMPORTANT ENVIRONMENTAL STORIES' AFFECTING  
COMMUNITIES OF COLOR

MISSION: Climate change, pollution, access to natural resources and a  
host of other environmental factors hit low-income communities of  
color the hardest. Yet this population has been historically  
underrepresented in all levels of environmental discussions. By  
building a site where young people of color report on environmental  
impacts in their own communities we hope to advance these vital  
conversations.

OPPORTUNITY: If selected we will invite you to our studios in Boston  
where we will provide you with the equipment and instruction for  
producing radio stories. Once trained we will continue to work with  
you to produce at least one audio podcast a month. These pieces will  
be distributed through iTunes and broadcast on our nationally  
syndicated sister show, Living on Earth. For your time we can offer a  
stipend courtesy of the National Science Foundation of at least $500 a  
semester and an opportunity to report from the UN Climate Change  
Conference in Copenhagen.

QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for young people of color with a strong  
interest in the environment. Candidates will be considered from as  
varied backgrounds as science, journalism, performance, etc.
