Hello y’all,
Just here to recap the latest episodes of *YouthCast* which are pretty
banging , in my unbiased personal opinion. Check the newness every other
Wednesday on *YouthCast.org* <http://YouthCast.org> or subscribe to the
podcast via iTunes.
Most recently, *Zane Anderson of WHJE in Carmel, IN* produced a witty
“exposé” on high school romance in *Sadie Hawkins
Dance*<http://youthcast.org/?p=1417>.
And even funnier in a way is our conversation about how he wrote it and why
WHJE is so awesome. *
Storefront Library <http://youthcast.org/?p=1377>** **by Mark Saldaña* is a
quiet, longform piece about the last days of a social experiment in
do-gooderism in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood. Again, a very thoughtful
interview with Mark ensues (he is a college student) about the culture of
radio-making.
Finally, there is* How to Be a Refugee in Syria <goog_1738715522>** by Fouad
and Ahmed for the World Vision Report*. Second person storytelling is
sometimes twee, and sometimes brilliant. This instance is brilliant. It
captures a slice of cultural life that I knew nothing about and the
different Arabic dialects are beautiful. This piece is also well-scored and
cleverly written by non-native English speakers.
Of course, this is just a slice of the cool things going on. There is plenty
more on our website, *YouthCast.org* <http://YouthCast.org> and you can also
find links and become an official fan at *facebook.com/youthcast* if you’re
into consolidating your Internet exploration.
Thanks for listening and please don’t be shy about commenting!
Molly
