[youthradioleaders] advice sought for Florida program

Dina:
I've worked extensively with schools and community groups doing youth
radio projects.
Some have been really successful, and some a total bummer.

First and most important, I think, is to have a staff person or
teacher at the school to help recruit, do outreach, and be the person
who knows school rules and policies, so you do not have to do
everything.

I don't really know what you mean about "news about a municipality",
what kinds of stories, but maybe you want to also hook them with
something smaller before you get to the big project. Other ideas for
finding kids would be to start a class about "news about a
municipality" and do research, and have the radio piece aspect as
"Part Two" of the class.
